Operations Management Assistance experience

  • Custodial Formula – Provided Abbotsford School District 34 with a review of its current assignment of areas to custodian shifts and a new workload formula for assigning custodians in a more equitable and less conflict-prone way;

 

  • Climate Action – Delivered BC Hydro Power Smart Workshops to school district custodians all over British Columbia, bringing awareness to school custodians the importance of their role in reducing energy consumption and costs;

 

  • Custodial Workload Formula – Developed a generic custodial operations workload formula to optimize janitor staffing levels and improve equity of work area assignments, based on classroom equivalency using a weighting factor for different types of spaces.  It is called the Cascade CRE Custodial Formula;

 

  • Custodial Work Areas Review– Worked with Mission School District 75 to review and update its current assignment of work areas to custodian shifts and to consider implementing a new workload formula;

 

  • Vandalism control – Offers a Vandalism Reduction Program to interested school districts, municipalities, and post-secondary institutions;

 

  • Loss Prevention Management– Until 2010, assisted Delta School District 37, Coquitlam School District 43, and Langley School District 35 with responding to and managing the recommendations arising from the annual loss prevention program inspections required by the Ministry of Education’s Risk Management Branch;

 

  • Custodial Services Review – In 2012, worked with Nanaimo – Ladysmith School District 68 to review its custodial department management, training, work quality, organization, and staffing levels, including providing a comparison of staffing levels to six other comparable districts;

 

  • Security Review In 2012, analyzed and recommended changes to building security at the School Board Office and the Delta Manor Education Centre in Delta School District 37 including introduction of lockdown procedures in response to concerns;

 

  • Custodial Formula – In 2013, Cascade helped Nanaimo – Ladysmith School District 68 to develop a fair custodial workload formula for comparing work area assignments for school custodians;

 

  • Custodial Services Review – In 2013, worked with Langley School District 35 to review its custodial department management, training, work quality, organization, and staffing levels. In 2014 worked with the school district to introduce a modified custodial formula based on Classroom Equivalent workloads (CRE Formula by Cascade);

 

  • Custodial Service Levels Assessment – Twice each year since 2015, we have inspected several selected schools to assess the quality of custodial services against the ASBO standards in Nanaimo – Ladysmith School District 68.
